Background Statement
Boys Hope Girls Hope founded in 1977 in St. Louis, MO to address the number of young lives being extinguished by negative factors: underfunded schools; families distressed by poverty; and neighborhoods shattered by drugs and violence. BHGH is a bridge to opportunity, providing youth with a sense of belonging, college-preparatory education, life skills, scholarships, and internship opportunities.
In 1993, BHGHCO established residential programming, providing a safe home-like environment for 8 boys in metro Denver.
In 2010, BHGHCO opened a Girls Hope home for 5 girls in metro Denver.
In 2013, BHGHCO created the Academy program at Aurora Central HS to engage more youth and provide more opportunities to those in metro Denver.
In August 2018, BHGHCO moved to all Academy programming, selling both homes to address the increased need for and continued success of BHGHCO’s Academy, a college-prep program.
As of 2024, BHGHCO has over 130 scholars and collegians annually working towards their dreams of college graduation.
