Testimonials

"My recent five-day recovery at Castle Peak Senior Care from rotator cuff surgery was an uplifting experience, worthy of both recognition and a shared awareness in our community of a potential resource. First, the administrative staff were welcoming, efficient and highly effective. Last-minute scurrying due to a late communication challenge from the surgery center was met by both Dr. Cunningham's staff (Megan) and Castle Peak management (Monica) ensuring space being available, medications, etc. But more so, and you will hear this concept throughout, there was genuine caring. Second, the nurses and certified nursing assistants were professional, attentive and bent over backwards to ensure my GameReady shoulder cooling device was filled with ice, 24/7. In addition, this staff was always collaborative and caring, open to schedule changes and modification of pain medications as I weaned off of them. Third, now this may appear as an oxymoron: good hospital and institutional food. But the food was excellent: selection and variety, preparation and quantity with snacks upon request. Whether you ate in one of the dining areas or in your room, on-time sumptuous meals were the norm. Lastly, the site is open, clean and offers a nurturing and caring environment for your recovery."

"Our mother has received not just attention, but attentiveness. The staff thinks of both little and big things that could help with her serious medical problems. We thought she had the best care in Denver, with around-the-clock personal attendants in her home, but the care the Castle Peak staff provides is far superior. Because she can't use the call button or express her needs, the nursing staff looks in on her frequently. They are quick to attend to her personal needs and hygiene. Recently, the therapists thought to purchase a reclining wheelchair, which has improved her life.

We consider ourselves blessed that our mother found a home at Castle Peak, and we sleep well knowing she is in caring hands."

Mission

Cassia's mission is to foster fullness of life for older adults in the spirit of Christ's love.

The name "Cassia" ('KAS e- uh) was inspired by an anointing oil made from the bark of the Cassia tree and is said to symbolize the heart of a servant. Cassia provides independent and assisted living communities, memory care, skilled nursing care centers, short-term rehabilitation centers, adult day programs and a variety of community-based services for older adults across five states.

At Cassia, we are on an uncompromising quest for solutions to live well. Our faith-based organization is centered around the following values: collaboration, compassion, excellence, innovation, integrity, respect, stewardship and unity. We serve all beliefs and backgrounds and serve all by following One.

Background Statement

In 2018, Augustana Care and Elim Care voluntarily joined together to form Cassia, reinforcing both organizations' missions. With more than 200 combined years of service, the affiliation strengthens our focus on meeting the needs of residents, clients and patients of all faiths. Cassia serves more than 23,500 people annually. We provide housing to more than 3,300 residents including locations where we provide care. Cassia serves about 5,400 people in health care centers; and also provides community-based services to more than 14,700 people, in addition to serving residents.

In Colorado, our Elk Run community served more than 70 individuals in the past year, with 20 individuals served whose savings were exhausted. Elk Run offers assisted living to older adults in Evergreen. Elk Run also provides respite services for families who need personal time or for individuals who need additional rehabilitation before going home. Elk Run is committed to surrounding mountain communities. In addition to serving residents, the nonprofit assisted living community sponsors a variety of local events and works closely with other healthcare providers in Evergreen.

The Castle Peak Senior Care Center opened in Eagle fall 2016. Castle Peak served 98 individuals in 2019, including 48 in need of financial assistance. Castle Peak offers assisted living apartments, memory care specially designed for those with Alzheimer's and similar conditions; short-term rehabilitation that provides time and therapy to recover from illness or hospitalization; and skilled nursing for those with chronic or medically complex needs.

Both Elk Run and Castle Peak are faith-based nonprofits dedicated to anticipating and meeting the needs of older adults.
