Background Statement
Founded in 2017, Atomic Theatre began with a simple goal: to build a vibrant and inclusive community theater dedicated to showcasing local talent. From those early days, we’ve remained passionate about creating a space where new performers can step into the spotlight and share their energy, enthusiasm, and joy with audiences.
Our focus on nurturing new actors has fostered a welcoming and supportive environment—one where both performers and audience members form meaningful connections through shared experiences and storytelling.
Atomic’s inaugural production, the original musical "The People’s Cadillac," debuted with a live orchestra. In early 2019, we followed up with an original operetta, "Say You’ll Stay," which was performed at the Colorado Coalition of Community Theaters' annual convention.
After a brief pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Atomic returned in 2021 and, by 2022, had partnered with the Wheat Ridge Grange to launch a new chapter of growth. This collaboration has supported a series of original musical productions. With consistent access to a dedicated venue, we’ve seen a steady rise in both audience engagement and performer participation.
In 2024, we expanded our programming to include after-school workshops for children. This initiative has provided valuable onstage experience as well as behind-the-scenes crew opportunities for 200 plus participants.
As Atomic Theatre continues to grow, our mission remains the same: to celebrate creativity, foster new talent, and bring people together through the magic of live performance.
