Building community while breaking down barriers for individuals with dyslexia.

Arkansas Valley Advocates for Dyslexia (AVAD)'s vision is that students with dyslexia in the Arkansas River Valley have a supportive community and are empowered with the knowledge, tools, resources and confidence to advocate on behalf of their own education, identify their needs and strengths,  and realize their full potential.

  • Increase recognition that 1 in 5 students have dyslexia- no student should feel embarrassed, ashamed or “stupid”.

  • Parents and teachers need support to provide support.

  • All students should have access to evaluations and appropriate instruction and accommodations.

  • When we know better, we do better.
