Testimonials
We believe the impact of our work can be best understood through the words and stories of Colorado patients and caregivers who have relied on ACS programs during one of the most difficult times in their lives.
"An older adult patient needed radiation therapy as part of his treatment plan at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette, Colorado. The patient lived in Brighton, about 18 miles away, but he had no car and minimal resources with which to pay for transportation to and from his treatments. The Care Manager at Good Samaritan was able to set the patient up with the American Cancer Society-provided transportation support to pay for Lyft rides to and from his appointments. Now, he is no longer missing any radiation appointments thanks to ACS transportation support." - Cancer Center Social Worker
"Calling the American Cancer Society and requesting trips with the Road to Recovery program has been a blessing. We wouldn't have been able to get John to his brain cancer treatments without ACS's help. John retired from CDOT just before he was diagnosed so now we are on a fixed income. Margaret, an ACS volunteer driver and our angel, has become a friend and made a huge impact on our quality of life. We are so fortunate to have the American Cancer Society and free rides to treatment." - Sandy, Caregiver
“Our stay at Hope Lodge was an incredible blessing to my whole family…To have been able to stay for free made the financial burden [of cancer treatment far from home] much less of a hardship. All the staff were wonderful and kind. Being able to cook our own food during our stay made it much more affordable and convenient. All the extra events from volunteers made the stay feel like home.” - Hope Lodge Guest from Colorado
