Eight28 | A Giving Movement Rooted in Equity

The Ambassador Foundation is proud to be one of 22 nonprofits selected by The Colorado Trust for this year's Eight28 Giving Event — honoring and uplifting Black-led and Black-benefiting nonprofits during Black Philanthropy Month.

Why August 28? It's a date marked by pivotal moments in the Black community's pursuit of justice and progress — from the abolition of slavery to MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech to the nomination of Barack Obama.

Now, it marks a new movement of community-powered change.

The Ambassador Foundation provides college advising, leadership training, scholarships, internships, and peer-led community groups as foundational resources to first generation, second-language learners, students of color, immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, asylees, undocumented, DACA, and other traditionally under-represented populations who seek advice and assistance.

Our staff has over a century of combined experience in serving students of all ages. Currently those students range in age from 15 to 44 and represent 39 countries.

In 2024, the Foundation gave $63,000 in scholarships to students completing our annual Leadership Program. More accessed financial aid because of individualized college advising and the help of tenacious, dedicated staff. Far beyond finances, students are empowered with self-advocacy skills and belonging.

Mission

Opening doors to higher education for Colorado students throughout their post-secondary journey through graduation. Building community while enriching the lives of families, fellow students, and those who follow.

Background Statement

Established in August 2022, The Ambassador Foundation formed to bridge gaps in higher educational opportunities by providing financial support and college preparation services to refugee, immigrant, and underserved populations. The organization meets needs left due to lack of funding for similar services once included in resettlement programs in Colorado.

The Ambassador Foundation’s mission expanded to a robust model serving under-represented populations with college advising, leadership development, scholarships, internships, and a peer-led network for community building. The mentoring and well-rounded services ensure students enroll, remain engaged, and graduate from post-secondary institutions in Colorado and beyond.
