At Alpine Valley School, we believe in the power of individual paths to learning, the strength of community voices, and the enduring impact of education that honors the child's voice. Today, we invite you to become a part of our story.
Our alumni are our testament, walking into the world with the confidence and integrity that only a school like AVS could instill. They are artists, scientists, leaders — all who started their journey in the open spaces of Alpine Valley, where they were free to explore, learn, and grow. Their parents watched them flourish, secure in the knowledge that their children were more than just students; they were active participants in their life's journey, respected and valued for their individuality.
In the present, our students revel in the joy of discovery each day, empowered by the trust and responsibility given to them in their learning journey. Their parents stand with us, witnessing the unfolding of potential and the formation of character that happens within our school's walls.
As we look to the future, we see a vision of inclusivity and opportunity — a future where every child, regardless of financial background, can benefit from the unique learning environment AVS offers. This vision can only be realized with your help. On Colorado Gives Day, your donation is more than a gift; it's a bridge to the future. It's a promise of sustained growth, expanded horizons, and the continued nurturing of young minds eager to take on the world.
Your support will provide crucial tuition assistance, enabling us to welcome a diverse tapestry of students and to strengthen our commitment to a community that respects every voice. It will help us enhance our resources, ensuring that our students have the best possible environment to explore their passions.
This Colorado Gives Day, lend your voice to our chorus. Be part of a community that celebrates and supports self-directed, democratic education. Your donation is an investment not just in the students of Alpine Valley School, but in the belief that education can be transformative when it listens to and values the voices of its children.
Help us continue to be a place where education is not just about imparting knowledge, but about fostering a lifelong journey of learning, integrity, and empowerment.
Alpine Valley School is a community that supports each child's drive to learn.
In the heart of Colorado, nestled in the vibrant community of Wheat Ridge, stands Alpine Valley School — an educational haven that began as a shared vision in 1994. By September 1997, this vision was brought to life, opening doors to a new realm of learning within the welcoming walls of a Golden church. The journey of growth and empowerment had begun.
Three years later, driven by the relentless spirit and generosity of our community, AVS embarked on an ambitious quest, securing a 7,200-square-foot sanctuary that would become the cradle of countless dreams and the stage for endless possibilities. It was here that over 50 students have since taken flight, each leaving with more than just a diploma — they carried with them a powerful testament of their readiness to meet the world as effective, empowered adults.
At Alpine Valley School, we celebrate the natural inquisitiveness of youth, and we elevate it with a steadfast belief in their potential. Our students, ranging from 5 to 19 years, are not just learners; they are explorers of life, each at their own unique rhythm. In our mixed-age community, they don't just absorb knowledge — they weave it, in a tapestry as diverse as their personalities and as rich as their collective voices.
This isn't just education. This is a journey of self-discovery, where responsibility isn't imposed but embraced, where students stand as equals in the governance of their educational experience — from crafting rules to making pivotal decisions about the school's future. This revolutionary educational model, inspired by the pioneering Sudbury Valley School, is a beacon for about three dozen schools worldwide.
Join us. Support us. And let's watch as our collective voices uplift the next generation of thinkers, leaders, and dreamers at Alpine Valley School.
