The Alamosa Veterans Memorial Park project was the brainchild of Vietnam Veteran, Frank Muniz, who also served as the VSO in Alamosa. The goal of the project is to build and maintain a Veterans Memorial Park located on the northeast corner of South Highway 285 and Airport Road in Alamosa. This park will not only honor the veterans in our community who have served and sacrificed for our freedoms, but it will also give family members of veterans and current military members a place to reflect and pray for their loved ones. For more information, see the Mission Statement below.
The board of directors is comprised of veterans and community members in Alamosa County who are dedicated to the project. Though we lost Frank in September of 2024, the board continues to move forward and is determined to see the park completed.
Great progress has been made on the construction of the project. Currently, all concrete and electrical work has been completed. The next (and almost final,) phase will be the creation of the bronze statue by local artist Huberto Maestas.
If you are in the area, you are invited to stop by the park and check it out!
