The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is the leader in the fight against suicide. The grassroots work we do focuses on eliminating the loss of life from suicide by: delivering innovative prevention programs, educating the public about risk factors and warning signs, reaching out to those individuals who have lost someone to suicide, and raising funds for suicide research and programs. In 2025, AFSP funded $265,000 in research projects in the state of CO, and over $30 million nationally.
In 2012 AFSP established the Colorado Chapter to bring better support for suicide prevention to the Centennial State. Colorado ranks 8th in the nation for number of deaths by suicide. And it is the 2nd leading cause of death for ages 15-44.
We are at the forefront of increasing the public's awareness of suicide as a public health issue that is preventable.
Please support AFSP Colorado today to help build a world without suicide.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is the leader in the fight against suicide. AFSP is a multifaceted organization made up of esteemed scientists, dedicated survivors of suicide loss, and an expansive network of business and community leaders.
We are at once a grassroots movement, a support network, an educator, a professional research organization and a grant-making foundation.
We organize hundreds of events in communities across the country, raising millions of dollars each year to support our work, both locally and nationally. We advocate for social change, supporting policies that contribute to reducing and preventing suicides nationwide.
While AFSP does not provide direct services, such as counseling or running a crisis hotline, we do work closely with the organizations providing these services.
