African Heritage Celebration

A nonprofit organization

African Heritage Celebration (AHC) offers opportunity to children in Africa by collaborating in villages and urban schools to provide school supplies and textbooks and to develop school facilities. AHC was formed as a 501(c)3 non-profit in 2005. Since then, AHC has benefited more than 100,000 children in nearly 50 schools located across the nation of Senegal in West Africa.

Mission

AHC's mission is to make a lasting impact in the developing world by enhancing education of children, and to promote cultural exchange for a safer, more compassionate world.

Background Statement

AHC was formed in response to the race-motivated killing in 1997 of a Senegalese ex-Pat working in downtown Denver. The founders of AHC work with schools and education professionals in Senegal to formulate programs in memorial to the ex-Pat, Oumar Dia. Our objectives are to improve learning opportunities for children and to promote cultural exchange between the US and Africa.
