Background Statement
Step Up 2 Help was founded by Brian Newman and Elizabeth Wagner in 2010 after they identified groups of people who are often overlooked, misunderstood and marginalized in community contexts. Our passion was and continues to be to walk alongside these groups as they grow to reach their potential.
Step Up 2 Help had its beginning in a local church in Denver, Lookout Mountain Community Church, in missions work in the community of La Victoria in the Dominican Republic. Project I See You was birthed out of this relationship.
The Isaac Ishmael Initiative had its beginnings in a series of seminars at Lookout Mountain Church in 2008 and 2009. Brian Newman taught these classes on how Christians can relate to Jews and Muslims in a holistic and healthy manner. From these first classes a vision for reaching out to the Isaacs and Ishmaels was born.
Step Up 2 Help had a name change in 2015 and is now Accord, Inc.
