Accelerate Neighborhood Climate Action (ANCA) promotes shared, place-based climate action on a neighborhood-by-neighborhood level. We offer events that help neighborhood residents envision working together to create a more sustainable future.
Accelerate Neighborhood Climate Action (ANCA) builds community resilience, neighborhood by neighborhood. The reality of climate change and its effects has become more apparent and urgent in recent years. There is untapped potential in the collective action that local gropus can take to lower our carbon footprint. We offer education and workshops that lead to concrete action at the local level. Two of our signature programs are the neighborhood Climate Action Forum and a disaster preparedness program called Map Your Neighborhood.
ANCA has worked with over 20 neighborhoods to create step-by-step action plans for projects that promote a more sustainable future. Residents choose the projects that they are passionate about and that are practical in relationship to their resources. Examples of projects that some groups have undertaken include:
● Beautifying a bus stop to promote use of public transportation
● Creating a pollinator corridor
● Developing a bike repair program
● A tree planting campaign
● Fall leaf collection sites for compposting
