Background Statement

AVSC is the Roaring Fork Valley's oldest and largest youth non-profit organization. Its mission is to provide all youth in the greater Roaring Fork Valley with the opportunity to excel as athletes and as individuals through winter sports. Founded in 1937, AVSC serves 3,000 local youth from preschool through 12th grade with over 40 recreational and competitive sports programs. From first-time skiers to future Olympians, we inspire and develop youth to reach their potential while cultivating a community built on passion, grit, and the spirit of the mountains. AVSC winter sports competitive programming in Alpine, Freestyle (Moguls, Park & Pipe, Freeride/Big Mountain, Telemark), Nordic (Race, Bill Koch, and SkiMo), and Snowboard with recreational offerings in diverse ski and snowboard options.

AVSC relies on donations to help meet its mission and provide winter sports access to youth athletes in the region from Aspen to Silt. Nearly 50% of every AVSC program is subsidized in addition to providing over $800,000 in direct financial aid.
