AISES is a community invested in ensuring that the next seven generations of Indigenous people will be successful, respected, influential, and contributing members of our vast, ever-changing global community.

When you support AISES, you become part of our community. Together, we can introduce kindergarteners to STEM, offer middle school and high school students the opportunity to compete in NAISEF (National American Indian Science and Engineering Fair), provide scholarships to college students as they prepare to enter STEM careers, and share our resources and networks with professionals so that they can continue to grow and thrive in their careers.

To continue to do this work, AISES needs your support.

A gift today can create lasting change. Empowering AISES to serve more and more Indigenous people every year.

With the support of AISES and community members like you, Indigenous students and professionals will be able to use Indigenous knowledge to further the fields of STEM, benefitting us all.

Will you help us grow?

Testimonials

In the early 1990s, I became involved with AISES as a volunteer at their national science fairs. Some years later I became a lifetime member through their Sequoyah Fellows program. I have grown with AISES for 28 years. Time does fly! I have made many friends at AISES and I wholeheartedly support their mission to increase the representation of Indigenous North Americans and Pacific Island students and career professionals in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) studies and careers. AISES supports students to dream big, follow their hearts, and believe that they can be scientists. They provide positive role models who encourage students to not be intimidated by STEM. Chemistry, physics, engineering, math - they can do it! AISES helps to start the conversation and breaks stereotypical images of what a scientist looks like. AISES supports individuals to learn for themselves what they are made of so that they can experience life fully. AISES opens students' minds to see the opportunities that exist by pushing boundaries, working hard, and moving past obstacles. As a donor, I am grateful for AISES and the opportunities it creates for others through its wide range of programs and services. With the help of loyal supporters and the broader community, AISES is accomplishing more by making the impossible possible. Keep up the great work AISES!

Mission

The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) is a national nonprofit organization focused on substantially increasing the representation of Indigenous peoples of North America and the Pacific Islands in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) studies and careers.

Background Statement

The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) was founded in 1977 by American Indian scientists, engineers, and educators. In view of the high dropout rates and low college enrollment and graduation rates of American Indians compared with all other ethnic groups in the United States, and the severe underrepresentation of American Indians in the science and engineering fields, Native professionals resolved to create an organization that would identify and remove the barriers to academic success for Native students. AISES is a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status and is primarily funded by government and private contracts, as well as other donations, contributions, and revenue from individuals and membership dues. Through a variety of educational programs, AISES offers financial, academic, and cultural support to Indigenous peoples of North America and the Pacific Islands from middle school through graduate school. AISES builds partnerships with tribes, schools, other nonprofit organizations, corporations, foundations, and government agencies to realize its goals. AISES especially helps Indigenous North Americans and Pacific Islander students prepare for careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
