STEM Exploration: Robotics, Cyber Security Club

Creative Arts: Theater, Tech Theater, Step Team

Civic Engagement & Advocacy: Students Demand Action, Amnesty International

Outdoor & Environmental Education: Outdoor Education Experiences, Climate Action Clubs (recycling, composting, gardening, sustainability)

Giving Activity

Mission

We support youth across Colorado and the United States to become critical thinking lifelong learners who are empowered by access to greater extracurricular activities locally, nationally, and internationally.

Background Statement

5280 Opportunity Project began as an idea in 2020 that became a reality in the summer of 2023. Three individuals passionate about the transformative power of learning opportunities outside of the classroom founded 5280 Opportunity Project with the sincere hope of being able to open additional doors for students across Colorado while they pursue their passions and/or by being exposed to high quality extracurricular experiences. At the center of the organization is a deeply held belief that creating a socially just world requires actors within and outside of the traditional education system to provide access to opportunities for students to be able to thrive. With colleges and universities going test optional, extracurricular opportunities are more important than ever to offer to students as that is the growing inequality admissions representatives are seeing.
