Every year, roughly 1,000 animals get a second chance through 4 Paws 4 Life. And every single one has a journey between rescue and home.

For most, that journey begins in an overcrowded shelter where their future is uncertain. Others come to us through owner surrenders or difficult circumstances that have left them needing help.

Getting them to safety is the first step. What comes next is where so much of the work happens.

Veterinary appointments. Vaccinations. Spay and neuter procedures. Transportation. Food. Shelter. Foster homes. And the time, patience, and love it takes to prepare each animal for adoption.

Some need extensive medical treatment. Others simply need a safe place to land and someone willing to give them a chance. No two animals need exactly the same care. But every animal deserves the opportunity to receive it.

And thanks to people like you, we're able to do this work for 1,000+ animals, year after year!

Every dollar counts, truly.

On average, it costs about $350 to rescue, provide veterinary care for, and support each animal that comes through our doors. (That number changes depending on their size, medical needs, and how long they’re with us, of course!)

Some animals need very little beyond routine care. Others require hundreds or even thousands of dollars in medical treatment before they're ready to go home. And every bit helps chip away at those costs.

Even $5 can help provide food for an animal in our care. A $50 gift helps cover essential supplies and veterinary needs. And larger gifts help us take on more extensive medical cases and provide ongoing care for animals who need us longer.

There is no gift too small to make a difference.

Because the truth is, the majority of our funding doesn't come from large corporations or businesses. It comes from individual donors who generously choose to support our mission.

People who believe these animals deserve a second chance and trust us to do the work of getting them there.

The Need Is Great. And It Isn't Slowing Down.

Every day, overcrowded shelters across the country are faced with more animals than they have the space or resources to care for.

And every day, organizations like ours are asked to help.

But rescuing an animal is only the beginning of our commitment to them.

We have to provide the veterinary care, food, shelter, medications, transportation, and ongoing support they need until they're ready for adoption.

And those costs add up quickly.

Veterinary expenses remain one of our biggest challenges. Spay and neuter procedures alone have averaged approximately $180 per animal, and our annual medical expenses have been projected to exceed $150,000.

That's before accounting for the many other expenses involved in operating a rescue and caring for hundreds of animals each year.

We are incredibly proud of the lives we're able to save, but there are still so many animals waiting for their chance.

The need doesn't stop when we reach 1,000 adoptions. And neither does our work.

At 4P4L, our mission has always been about serving animals and the people who love them.

We are proud to say Colorado is a state full of animal lovers! With that support and love, we’re able to extend that compassion to the shelters that need us the most – due to high euthansia and intake rates.

(Did you know that nearly 920,000 shelter animals are euthanized each year? This number is real. And it breaks our hearts.)

We rescue animals from these overcrowded shelters and challenging conditions, giving them a second chance to heal, grow, and find homes right here in Colorado.
