2-4-1 CARE

A nonprofit organization

$100 raised by 1 donor

2-4-1 proudly gives Denver and Boulder kids access to sports sampling and play programming. Your support helps disadvantaged Colorado kids become strong athletes, learners, and community leaders.

Your support ensures all kids -- regardless of income, gender, race, or zip code -- get the opportunity to play. Through 2-4-1's evidence-based, free school and community programs, kids experience social-emotional learning (SEL) alongside the joy of sports. We believe sports are a powerful vessel to close opportunity and achievement gaps. Harnessing the power of play, we teach underserved youth skills to gain confidence, resilience, leadership, and belonging.

With your donations, 2-4-1 is able to...

  • Sponsor campers at our award-winning Metro Denver and Boulder camps, who otherwise cannot afford to attend.
  • Incorporate our nationally-recognized TOP Self™ Sports program in Denver and Boulder public schools, introducing students to new sports infused with SEL curriculum.

Your dollars can introduce a kid to a new lifelong love for sport, or make the difference in a family's decision to send their child to school. By supporting 2-4-1, you are putting a smile on a kid's face, a ball in their hand, and changing their life.

Mission

To provide all children the opportunity to grow physically and emotionally through the play-filled power of sport.

Background Statement

The concept that Life’s 2 Short 4 Just 1 Sport™ was our inspiration to launch a one-week sport sampling camp, which has swelled into a movement we now refer to simply as 2-4-1. True to our small camp identity emphasizing multi-sport play over specialization, we've retained the founding principles that sports should fun and accessible. We know kids thrive in structured, fun, play-filled environments.

We have a history of making a positive impact on children and their future. In 2014, The Aspen Institute’s Project Play recognized 2-4-1 as a leader in sports sampling and invited our founders, Steve and Kerry Boyle, to help craft their call to action, aimed at supporting youth sport participation focused on physical literacy and addressing a long-standing and increasing disparity in youth sport participation across socioeconomic backgrounds.

Based in Connecticut, we have a global footprint, reaching over 3,000 students aged K-12 annually. More than 30,000 kids across Connecticut, Denver, Boulder, Boston, New York City, Washington, DC, Maryland, Vancouver, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Kenya, and Zambia have joined the 2-4-1 family, sampling multiple sports, making meaningful connections, building resilience, and discovering the power of play.
