Description

The Temporary Rental and Utility Assistance program provides temporary housing and utility assistance to low and moderate-income families at risk of displacement due to economic pressure,unsafe housing conditions or a potential eviction.

We prevented over 250 families from becoming homeless and provided utility assistance for 112 families.

Description

NDHC is a HUD certified housing counseling agency serving first time homebuyers, seniors and homeowners in the areas of affordable financing, reverse equity loans, foreclosure prevention, rental referrals and financial literacy.

Our comprehensive counseling program has served over 261 clients this year, assisting them in staying in their homes, purchasing a home, or obtaining an Equity Reverse Mortgage for our seniors.

Description

NDHC's Design and Development Studio provides architectural design and construction management services for its own projects and other developers. It specializes in "Sustainable Design" that improves the quality of the project and is safe for the residents and the environment.

Neighborhood Stabilization Program- Single Family Rehabilitation
NDHC has completed over 220 units of single-family, acquisition, rehabilitation home ownership projects over the past 20 years. NDHC has produced over 1,200 units of affordable housing over the past 27 years, including single and multifamily homes as well as new construction and rehabilitation of existing stock. NDHC's design and development studio has spearheaded the effort of "greening" affordable housing locally and nationally. Recently, NDHC was awarded the Governor's Excellence Award for producing the state's first U.S. Green Building Council GOLD LEED certified multi-family home serving households making less than 50% of area median income. NDHC is under contract to implement the City of Denver, State of Colorado and Chicano por la Causa NSP 1 and 2 grants totaling over $5 million.

For the past 12 years, NDHC has partnered in this effort with another local non-profit community development and property management corporation and currently manages over 400 units.

The philosophy is to enhance the opportunity of lower income households by providing supportive services that address social, health and economic development needs.

Description

Northeast Denver Housing Center is creating a model for an adaptive healthy living program that will empower community residents to embrace healthy living in healthy homes.

This program is called 3HL- Healthy Homes Healthy Living.

By providing healthy homes, partnering with community agencies, providing education, and managing housing according to healthy principles, the program will enable residents to live long term healthy lifestyles.

NDHC has held it's first community meeting with the help of the Pauline Robinson Branch Library on October 09th, 2014 from 6:00 PM-7:30 PM. It was successfully attended by both community residents and community working professionals, who together worked on establishing long term understanding of community interest in 3HL Program's Principles and Long-term Goals.

3HL Concepts-

NDHC will offer:
-Education on energy features and savings.
-Healthy Housing information via workshops, curriculum and communication.
-Energy saving tips and other incentives, and connections to educational received through supporting community partner agencies.

Residents will Engage:
-In community conversations and meetings about activities.
-With partners in events covering cooking, nutrition, energy savings, exercise, reducing household carbon footprint.
-In saving energy to lower utility bills.
