In response to a friend's critically ill newborn not having access to a nearby hospital and dying en route, Zoya Dickins Miller hosted two fundraisers called "November Noel" in Denver and Colorado Springs in 1973. In 1987, the organization was renamed Newborn Hope, Inc. and began its expanded mission of assisting babies and families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. 2013 is Newborn Hope's 40th Anniversary year.
