Naturally Boulder Supports Metro Caring's Hunger-Fighting Efforts!

Throughout August and September, Naturally Boulder is raising funds for Metro Caring, Denver's frontline hunger-prevention organization. Like Naturally Boulder, Metro Caring is dedicated to creating healthier communities. Metro Caring provides a week's worth of groceries to 100 food-insecure families every day. 35% of the food shoppers leave with are fresh fruits and vegetables. And Metro Caring offers several nutrition and cooking classes to complement the healthy food offerings in its market.

What is Metro Caring?

As Denver's frontline hunger-prevention organization, Metro Caring meets people's immediate need for food while also sustainably addressing the root causes of hunger and poverty. Using a multifaceted approach, Metro Caring is innovative in how we solve problems related to hunger, with programming offered in Healthy Foods Access, Nutrition Education, and Self-Sufficiency.

Why did Naturally Boulder select Metro Caring as its first-ever charity partner?

When Naturally Boulder looked around Boulder and Denver for a nonprofit to select as our first-ever charity partner, we found an organization that is so well aligned with our mission of creating healthier communities through the distribution of better food: Metro Caring. In addition to providing free groceries for one hundred hungry families every day - 35% of which is fresh fruits and vegetables - this organization treats health and food security holistically. Metro Caring offers nutrition and cooking classes, both for adults and for the whole family. And they are working to end hunger at its root - poverty - by offering job-training, financial literacy classes, and ID assistance.
