People need employment. Mindful Works designs and manufactures soft goods to give people living with mental health challenges job training and employment. We design and sew meditation cushions, wellness products, home decor goods, apparel, handbags, etc.- a variety of goods that give people who face obstacles to employment or have dropped out of school because their mental health challenges have thrown them off track. We layout and cut patterns, serge, sew, fill, assemble, package, manage the website, maintain inventory, shoot photos, name products, deliver, sell, ship and display goods, all of which provides a platform to build stamina, confidence, skills and independence. We will try to make just about anything if it provides stigma-busting work to our apprentices and matches the skills of our seamstresses, always mindful of the value to the work it generates. The goal is to help our apprentices "graduate" with the workforce confidence to gain integrated employment in the community or the mindset and confidence to return to school. Employment is an evidence-based component to recovery and there is very little opportunity in our community to gain experience and build skills. Work works.

Evidence of Program's Success

We are in the midst of contacting all enterprise graduates and other participants. We have a comprehensive survey to assess a wide range of employment/education/stability issues. We have a Social Work intern who is reaching out to the program participants and will have data available this year.
