What two words best describe Luna: SWEET and LOVABLE. This beautiful 9-year-old pittie mix was surrendered to RCHS due to breed specific housing discrimination. The shelter team cannot get enough cuddle time with Luna as she is one of the most loving and gentle dogs we've cared for. She's always happy to greet people and sit gently by your side to soak up all the attention she can get. Although she didn't have a perfect or easy past, it has not affected her disposition. But now Luna needs your help.

Luna arrived with mild lameness, which worsened recently. Diagnosed with a torn cranial cruciate ligament, she had TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) on October 3rd. In addition to surgery, she needs a 16-week recovery and rehabilitation period including passive range of motion, icing and slow activity. Her care is necessary but will strain our limited veterinary care budget for the remainder of the year.

Luna deserves the best possible second chance and we hope you can help! Your gift to her medical fund will ensure we have funds to care for the animals yet to arrive this year while providing Luna all that she needs to recover and find her forever home.

Even a little provides a lot for Luna! Her surgery went well and although sore, she is being a good patient by taking her medication and is ready to be active, although we'll hold her back so she can heal!

Thank you for helping Luna. She and the nearly 550 animals we've welcomed this year deserve the food, shelter, medical care, compassion and enrichment they need to heal, recover, be reunited or find their forever homes.
