IMAGINE you’re the first in your family to step onto a college campus, the first in a higher education classroom, a mixture of fear and excitement swirling in your stomach.

Because of community members like you, our Colorado Latino students get to experience this every semester.

With your help, we guide our students on their higher education journey and ensure each scholar has the support, resources, and knowledge to reach their highest potential.

85% of LAEF scholars are first-generation college students.

90% of LAEF scholars are low-to-moderate income and Pell Grant eligible.

You understand the need to continue supporting Latino students’ education. While generous donors like you have helped thousands of Latinos graduate and become active community members, still, we can only accept a fraction of new applicants each year.

Your gift makes it possible to say “YES” to more Colorado Latino students. Just by being here, you’ve already made an impact.

Thank you for supporting our dream in making the “first-generation Latino college student” a thing of the past.

Mission

We invest in the promise of Colorado Latino students through scholarships, educational opportunities, and community partnerships so they can achieve their highest potential.

Background Statement

LAEF is one of the oldest Latino non-profit organizations in the state of Colorado. After WWII, a group of men and women from Colorado's Latino community, who had struggled for years as field and factory workers, came together to ensure that their children would get the education necessary to avoid the same struggles and to make a better life for themselves. Through these community organization efforts, LAEF was founded in 1949.

For 75 years, LAEF has remained committed to serving the Latino students of Colorado by awarding over $7 million in scholarships to 7,000+ students.

We are proud to welcome every Latine student who lives in Colorado to apply for our scholarship. In our organization, every Latino, no matter their origin, belongs here.
