What do you do?
Born of the idea that once you experience the outdoors, you connect to it and become a steward of the land, the Trails 2000 TrailKids program is designed to inspire curiosity, stewardship, and an appreciation for natural lands through outdoor, hands-on science education and trailwork.
Whom do you serve?
Focused on Durango-area middle school students, Trails 2000's TrailKids program offers a variety of one hour, half-day, and full day programs for 6th-8th grade. Each course is tailored to Colorado Academic standards and focuses on Durango's unique ecosystems and geology to better understand the importance of trails. The program is offered at no cost to the school district.
What difference do you make?
In 2017, Trails 2000's TrailKids program reached over 500 students through outdoor, hands-on science education and trailwork. According to survey results, 100% of teacher would want their students to participate in a TrailKids program in the future, and over 80% of kids said that they had fun!
How do donations help?
Donations to the TrailKids program help to inspire curiosity and an appreciation for natural lands in our area youth and to create future generations of outdoor stewards.
