It's back to school for Denver Kids!
Once again, I am raising money in memory of my Denver Kids mentee, Amber. I started Amber's Fund to honor the way Amber lived her life. She had so many interests and talents and never gave up an opportunity to expand her horizons. I'd like to give those opportunities to other Denver Kids.
The Fund provides Denver Kids students in the far northeast area of the city the opportunity to receive a scholarship that supports academic needs and out-of-school engagement opportunities.
Amber's Fund was incredibly successful during the 2017-18 academic year. It helped many students and parents cover part or full costs related to school uniforms, school fees, activity fees, post-secondary fees, mental health related fees, transportation support, academic incentives, and more. Denver Kids Educational Counselors are also reporting that these students are also exhibiting improved behavior and attendance in school and are motivated to improve and keep their grades up.
Denver Kids exists to support Denver Public Schools (DPS) students, grades K-12, who face the personal challenges of higher risk environments, to successfully complete high school, pursue a post-secondary option and become contributing members of the community. Denver Kids believes that all children deserve a chance to reach their highest potential and improving their educational outcomes is critical in helping them do so. Through the passion and dedication of stakeholders like you, Denver Kids is able to have a profound impact on our students' lives. Together we can fundamentally change the futures of young people and the sustainability of our community. Learn more at www.denverkidsinc.org
