Arts, Culture & Humanities
Kantorei performs a concert season consisting of one to three performances of at least four different concert programs each year. We sell tickets for admission, and also provide complimentary tickets to organizations such as ArtReach that serve those who might not otherwise be able to attend. Concerts typically feature music spanning several centuries and genres. Instrumentalists may accompany the choir on select pieces, but Kantorei primarily performs a capella. Kantorei performs its choral selections at what is frequently and critically acknowledged to be the highest artistic level. Kantorei also records our concerts, creating CDs for sale to the public and available nationwide so our music can reach more listeners.
Because so many singers in Kantorei are music teachers or came to love music through a beloved music teacher, we place a high value on bringing our music to children and teenagers who are just learning to appreciate the choral arts. Kantorei has participated in many outreach performances to promote choral singing to students, including a high school choral music workshop weekend with grammy award-winning composer Eric Whitacre, performances at the Colorado Music Educators Association and Southwest region of the American Choral Directors Association meetings, a performance with the University of Denver choir, and most recently at the Colorado High School All-State Choir weekend. In addition, Kantorei has an annual collaborative concert with the Cherry Creek High School Meistersingers.
Kantorei's success is evidenced by feedback we receive from audience members, critical listeners, guest conductors, colleagues and the broader choral community.
Kantorei's success is also evidenced by the fact that we are repeatedly invited to perform with presitgious groups around the world and under the baton of well-respected conductors in the choral world, and regularly receive unsolicited original compositions from composers requesting that we perform their music.
