Longmont Chorale

The purpose of the Longmont Chorale is to strengthen and promote the vocal performing arts in Longmont, Colorado; promote knowledge and appreciation of choral music through highly aesthetic concerts; and contribute to the advancement of choral and other forms of music within our community.

Daniel Parks, Associate Director
Start Date: 2019

Daniel joined the Chorale staff in 2019-20 and is working on his Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting and Literature. He has taught choral music at the middle and high school levels in the past and was assistant conductor in several University and campus choral groups while working on his master's degree in Minnesota. Currently, he is conductor of the CU Boulder Collegiate Chorale and Madrigal Singers.

Bill Hanlin, Associate Accompanist
Start Date: 2018

2018-19 will be Bill's first year with the Chorale but his fiftieth playing and accompanying singers and ensembles. Bill received his Master of Music degree from Lewis & Clark college in 1968 and has variously taught piano and accompanied groups since then. He has bee the pianist and organist at New Creation Church since 2001 and continues to teach piano.

Scott Hamlin, Artistic Director
Start Date: 2004

This is Scott Hamlin's ninth season as Artistic Director of the Longmont Chorale. Prior to his appointment, he served for three years as Associate Director of the Longmont Chorale and Director of the Longmont Chorale Singers ensemble. Mr. Hamlin also serves as the piano accompanist for Niwot High School. His involvement with choirs began in his early teen years, as an accompanist for his father's choir. He has since been directing choirs for over thirty years, in Oregon, California, and Colorado.

Mr. Hamlin received his Bachelor of Music degree from Biola University, with an emphasis in music education. In December 2007, Scott completed the Master of Music degree with an emphasis in conducting at the University of Northern Colorado, under the direction of Dr. Galen Darrough (director of the Longmont Chorale from 1990-2000).

He has also been privileged to perform under conductors such as Loren Wiebe, William Lock, Jester Hairston, Roger Wagner, Howard Swan, William Hall, Paul Salamunovich, Lloyd Pfautsch, Rodney Eichenberger, and Weston Noble.

Since 1984, Mr. Hamlin has served in several churches as Music Director, where he has conducted adult, youth and children's choirs.

In Longmont, he was the Associate Pastor of Music and Worship at Calvary Church for 15 years. Following that tenure, he has been employed as an accompanist for the St. Vrain Valley School District at both the middle and high school levels.

Karen Main, Accompanist
Start Date:

Karen Main received her Bachelor and Master of Music Education degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Although her emphasis was in voice, she is equally proficient at the keyboard. Mrs. Main has taught elementary vocal music in the Saint Vrain Valley Schools and was also the pianist for Longmont High School for sixteen years. During that time, she accompanied the annual, district junior and senior high school vocal clinics under guest conductors from across the United States.

In addition to playing the piano and organ for worship services, she accompanies the Worship Choir at LifeBridge Christian Church. She has directed ensembles and arranged music.

Mrs. Main has accompanied students in the Stars of Tomorrow for 33 years. She also judges the Stars of Tomorrow shows. Karen Main has been the accompanist for the Longmont Chorale for more than 25 years
