Melissa Tofflemoyer, Assistant to the Executive Director/Lecturer

Melissa has been a HawkQuest volunteer since July 2013, and started working for HawkQuest in May 2015. This year, she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science from American Public University. She is currently creating a new environmental education program for HawkQuest that will cover all the ecosystems in Colorado and the raptors that thrive in each unique area. Melissa is a past volunteer for the Denver Zoo and the Downtown Aquarium, Denver. Her daily responsibilities at HawkQuest include giving lectures for the HawkQuest programs presented to the public, focusing on the safe handling of the raptors and positive engagement of the public during school programs and other presentations. Melissa also is the lead person for facility maintenance, the care and feeding of the birds, training new volunteers, and management of educational and fundraising activities.
Dionne Meidinger, Mews Maintenance and Lecturer

After being a HawkQuest volunteer since 2013, Dionne became a part-time employee in 2016 and in 2017 she became a full-time employee. Her daily responsibilities at HawkQuest include presenting the lecture at and handling birds during HawkQuest's programs presented to the public, focusing on the safe handling of the raptors and positive engagement of the public during school programs and other presentations. Dionne also assists with facility maintenance, general raptor care, food preparation and feeding of the birds, and supporting the HawkQuest social media presence.
Kin Quitugua, CEO/Executive Director
Start Date: 1987
Kin Quitugua has been a master falconer for many years during which he has trained, handled and flown birds of prey as diverse as the Bald and Golden eagles and the Saw-whet owl. For more than 30 years he has dedicated himself to educating the public about the importance of raptors in our ecology. Kin founded HawkQuest in 1986, believing that environmental awareness is a key to the survival of the world as we know it and that education -- of our nation's youth in particular -- is paramount to this process.
Patti Quitugua, Office Manager
Start Date: 1992
Patti Quitugua is a master falconer and has worked with raptors for over 30 years. She has worked with animals all of her professional life, working as a Veterinary Technician in an animal hospital prior to working at HawkQuest. Animals/wildlife is her passion so working at HawkQuest fulfils a desire to educate people about the importance and wonder of birds.
