Teryl Fabry, SRB Director
Start Date: 2019

Director Teryl Fabry

Teryl's love for helping seniors started over 12 years ago when she met her best friend Pete, she had been in the hair industry for over 15 years and had three small children. She decided to become a stay at home mom, she saw a huge need and started a mobile hair service specializing in helping seniors and shut ins who had difficulty getting out to hair appointments on their own.

Pete had moved to Broomfield after his wife passed away, they had no children and he had no family close by.

She met Pete through a referral from a friend at church and started doing his hair monthly, they became friends. After 2 years he began to lose his eyesight and couldn't drive his car anymore so she became his caregiver. Driving him to Dr. appointments, helping him do his monthly bills, meal preparation, medications, grocery shopping, vacations, church mission work, whatever he needed she found a way to get it for him and keep him safe in his home. She managed his healthcare and as a disabled vet she also helped him receive all of his benefits owed to him through the VA.

Through caring for Pete, his low vision needs, cochlear implant surgery then through his diagnosis of Parkinson's and dementia she realized the amount of help and support seniors need in their everyday life to stay safe and keep them thriving while enhancing their everyday life.

She cared for her best friend Pete for over 12 years including 24 hour care the last 3 years of his life, managing his additional caregivers through the VA until he passed away peacefully at home where he wanted to be.

He became a valued part of her family and her children helped care for him as well, it was a family effort!

Her three children are now grown, her youngest is still living at home while attending college. She has continued her Mobile Hair Service, (Shear Genius) as well as caregiving and is continuing to help seniors and shut ins who struggle getting out for appointments.
Her love for seniors led her to join the Senior Resources Board of Broomfield and she is now honored to be the Director of The Senior Resources of Broomfield.
