Yard Clean-up

Class

Public, Society Benefit

Beneficiaries

Aging, Elderly, Senior Citizens

Description

Volunteer groups of 5-10 people are needed to volunteer 2-3 hour shifts for general yard clean up; cleaning out garden beds, picking up lawn debris and raking leaves at the homes of older and disabled adults for whom these tasks would prove difficult. TLC MoW will determine the clients who need this service. If you have a larger group we can schedule several yards in nearby neighborhoods.

Evidence of Program's Success

We announced this program on August 13, 2018. We have already enlisted 5 large companies to send volunteers for 2-3 hour shifts and recognized 30+ clients in need of our help. Our first clean-up activity will take place August 24, with 30 volunteers assisting two sisters who live together and have not been able to work in their very large yard for the past 20+ years. We chose this yard first as it will help our drivers get into the property easier to deliver meals, but will also help provide our clients with pride in their home and improve neighbor relations.
