Wild Bear Nature Center

We believe it is important that people of all ages have meaningful experiences in nature. Wild Bear Nature Center is open 355 days per year, a free place to connect with others in nature, provides thousands of people with hands-on education each year and preserved land to build a permanent home.

Important note regarding Wild Bear Nature Center's Additional Colorado State Tax Credit(s): Wild Bear Nature Center is a Colorado State Licensed School Age Childcare facility and thus all donations are eligible for the Colorado Childcare Contribution Tax Credit. Taxpayers that make a qualifying monetary contribution to promote child care in Colorado may claim an income tax credit of 50% of the total qualifying contribution. The credit a taxpayer can claim for qualifying contributions made during a tax year is limited to $100,000. In-kind contributions of services or property (non-monetary donations) do not qualify for the credit. TAXPAYERS ELIGIBLE FOR THE CREDIT Any taxpayer that makes a qualifying contribution can claim the child care contribution credit. Resident and nonresident individuals, estates, trusts, and C corporations can all claim the credit for qualifying contributions they make, either directly or as a partner or a shareholder in a partnership or S corporation that makes a qualifying contribution. QUALIFYING CONTRIBUTIONS Contributions must meet several criteria to qualify for the child care contribution credit. The contribution must be monetary; contributions of services or property (including shares of stock) do not qualify for the credit. The credit is allowed only for contributions that promote child care in Colorado. Additionally, the contribution must be made for an eligible child care purpose and to a licensed child care facility, an approved facility school, or a registered or grandfathered child care program. Finally, the credit is not allowed for contributions which are specifically excepted. See "Contributions that do not qualify for the credit" below for additional information.

Third-party Processing Fees

Third-party vendors charge credit card and electronic check processing fees when you make an online donation. Two percent of each donation helps to cover these fees and ensures the program's long-term sustainability. The two percent processing fee is one of the lowest processing fees in the country.

Receipts and Tax Credits

You will automatically receive an on-screen acknowledgement letter and an e-mailed copy for your donation. Every donation is tax deductible as a charitable contribution to the full extent permitted by law. If you make a donation to a charity that offers Child Care or Enterprise Zone credits (additional Colorado state tax credits), Community First Foundation will acknowledge that your donation was processed successfully, but the charity will issue you an additional receipt pursuant to that. To learn more about these tax credits, contact the specific nonprofits.
