Over the last 40 years, we have assisted nearly 10,000 families address the underlying issues that resulted in their crisis of homelessness through providing safe housing in private apartment units along with supportive case management services. We work to end homelessness, one family at a time.
Important note regarding Family HomeStead's Additional Colorado State Tax Credit(s): As you may know, Family HomeStead is a designated Denver Enterprise Zone (DEZ) agency. According to the Colorado Department of Revenue, you are eligible for a Colorado state income tax credit of up to 25% of the total amount of gifts of $250 or more contributed toward our ongoing programs of emergency and transitional housing that are located within the Denver Enterprise Zone. If you choose to utilize the credit, we will forward the form you will need to confirm your request. It will be important for you to check the number recorded on the form for correctness and notify us of any error immediately. We cannot issue tax credits retroactively, so your timely response will be appreciated. The following is some basic information about the process: 1. Donors must specifically request the DEZ tax credit each time they make a gift in order to receive the credit. 2. Taxpayers must file their state income tax return electronically in order to receive the credit. 3. Taxpayers are not required to submit a copy of their EZ tax credit form(s) with their income tax filing. 4. Family HomeStead submits enterprise zone forms to the local EZ administrator, who certifies the forms and submits data to the Colorado Department of Revenue. This information is used by the state to verify tax credit claims when the taxpayer's return is submitted. 5. Your Social Security Number (SSN) or Colorado Account Number (CAN) would be required by us for processing. Married couples filing jointly should use the number of the primary taxpayer listed in your tax return. The primary taxpayer is the person listed first on the return. You may obtain your CAN by going to www.colorado.gov/revenueonline and following the enclosed instructions. Once we have completed the filing process, we will destroy our record of the number.
Third-party vendors charge credit card and electronic check processing fees when you make an online donation. Two percent of each donation helps to cover these fees and ensures the program's long-term sustainability. The two percent processing fee is one of the lowest processing fees in the country.
You will automatically receive an on-screen acknowledgement letter and an e-mailed copy for your donation. Every donation is tax deductible as a charitable contribution to the full extent permitted by law. If you make a donation to a charity that offers Child Care or Enterprise Zone credits (additional Colorado state tax credits), Community First Foundation will acknowledge that your donation was processed successfully, but the charity will issue you an additional receipt pursuant to that. To learn more about these tax credits, contact the specific nonprofits.
Thank you for Donating through ColoradoGives.org: ColoradoGives.org partners with local nonprofits to facilitate online giving. Nonprofits trust us to process their online donations because of our low processing fees, security and other great things. We do this because we're a nonprofit, too!
