For more than nine years, RMMFI has filled a critical gap in services to low-income entrepreneurs in the Denver Metro Area. RMMFI is the only Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) in Denver that serves under-resourced entrepreneurs with business development and lending. These tools help first to launch and then to grow thriving micro-businesses. Ultimately, this tandem of support results in sustainable income for the business owner, the potential for job creation, and a burgeoning ecosystem of small businesses representative of the members and the values of their respective communities. RMMFI Entrepreneurs are equipped with an ability to deliver a product/service, but with persistent life barriers, often lack the knowledge, resources, and accountability necessary to turn an idea into a business that creates a reliable source of income. Through its "Idea, Launch, Thrive" program structure, RMMFI provides each entrepreneur with an increased level of support to transform their business concept into a thriving, income-generating business for themselves and their households. Since its founding in 2008, RMMFI has achieved the following: • Helped over 2,250 individuals to Explore Business Ownership through business training • Graduated 19 classes of the Business Launch Boot Camp with an 88% graduation rate which resulted in the launch or expansion of 162 businesses in Denver • Distributed 162 loans for over $378,000 to low-income entrepreneurs in Denver with a 95% repayment rate • Named the 2016 Small Nonprofit of the Year and the 2016 David E Bailey Small Business Advocate of the Year (Rob Smith) by the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. • Received the 2011 Colorado Innovation in Philanthropy Award from Bank of the West • Received 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016 Right on the Money Award from Consumers United Association
Third-party vendors charge credit card and electronic check processing fees when you make an online donation. Two percent of each donation helps to cover these fees and ensures the program's long-term sustainability. The two percent processing fee is one of the lowest processing fees in the country.
You will automatically receive an on-screen acknowledgement letter and an e-mailed copy for your donation. Every donation is tax deductible as a charitable contribution to the full extent permitted by law. If you make a donation to a charity that offers Child Care or Enterprise Zone credits (additional Colorado state tax credits), Community First Foundation will acknowledge that your donation was processed successfully, but the charity will issue you an additional receipt pursuant to that. To learn more about these tax credits, contact the specific nonprofits.
