Nonprofit Participant Policies

Each charity has its own policies regarding privacy of donor information. Please contact the charities you contribute to directly to learn about their privacy policies.

The following explains our privacy policy in more detail.

Our Policy

At our site we don't collect personally identifiable information about individuals unless they knowingly provide it to us. So, if you just want to browse and learn about nonprofit services, programs, and benefits, we invite you to do so. If you are a casual, unregistered visitor to our site, we'll recognize the IP address from which you access the Internet (e.g., 123.234.345.456, or earthlink.com) but not your email address or any other personal or system information.

Once you provide us with personal or professional information about yourself or someone else (i.e. when you send a gift card to another person or arrange to make a donation through coloradogives.org), we will receive and retain your name, mailing address, email address, phone number, date of donation, the amount of the donation, whether the donation is recurring, the frequency of any recurring gifts, any specifications you've made about your gift, and whether you want your gift to be anonymous on the charities' annual reports. We generally maintain that information as confidential, but reserve the right, unless you have requested that your donation remain anonymous, to share your identity and information about your donation with the charity to which you donate, any Regional Champions with which that charity is associated, and other third parties who we have determined have a legitimate, non-commercial interest in funds to which you may donate (for example, the persons responsible for establishing a memorial fund, the sponsored organization under a fiscal sponsorship agreement, or the donor or advisor under a donor advised fund). Unless you request anonymity, we may also include your identity and an indication of the amount of your annual donations (generally presented within ranges, such as “under $100,” “$100-$500,” and the like) in our annual report.

If you enter a special code into the appropriate field at checkout, then in addition to sharing information as outlined above, Community First Foundation may also share this information with the organization associated with that special code. Such information may include, but is not necessarily limited to, your name, date of donation, the amount of donation, and the charity to which you donated. Community First Foundation shares such information with the organizations that have been issued special codes by us, so that the organizations may track progress towards goals, calculate employer matches, and other similar purposes.

If, however, you elect to be "completely anonymous," Community First Foundation will still receive and retain that same information, but charities to which you donate through ColoradoGives.org, the Regional Champions, and the organizations associated with any special codes entered at checkout will not. Except for Community First Foundation, the charities to which you donate, the Regional Champions with which the charities are associated, if any, and the organizations associated with any special codes entered at checkout we will not share any detailed information you provide to us with any other organization.  We do, however, share data in an aggregated form.

Security Online

Our website uses Secure Sockets Layer/Transport Layer Security (SSL/TLS) encryption. SSL/TLS is a generally accepted protocol that encrypts all communication between your web browser and the site you're viewing to prevent third parties from eavesdropping or tampering with your information. Common browsers, such as Internet Explorer, make it obvious when information is being passed in a secure manner by using the prefix https:// in the URL or displaying a padlock somewhere in the browser window.  Our website uses a third party SSL/TLS Certificate provider. The level of encryption is determined by your web browser, your computer's operating system, and the SSL/TLS Certificate.

We then use Braintree, https://www.braintreepayments.com/, and Authorize.net, http://www.authorize.net/, to process payment information. You may learn more about their security practices by visiting their websites.

Cookies

This website may use cookies to distinguish you from other users of our website. These Cookies help us to provide you with a good experience when you browse our websites and also allow us to improve our sites. By continuing to browse the sites, or by submitting any forms on our sites, you are agreeing to our use of Cookies.

In addition, we may use third-party advertising companies to customize the advertisements you see on our sites and on other websites.  ColoradoGives.org and 3rd party companies may use cookies or other technologies to collect information about your use of our sites and other websites and applications, including your IP address, web browser, mobile network information, pages viewed, time spent on pages or in applications, and links clicked.  We may use this information to analyze data, determine the popularity of certain content, deliver advertising and content targeted to your interests, and better understand your online activity. You can modify your cookies preferences and choose to refuse cookies.

ColoradoGives.org also uses Google Analytics which is a web analytics service offered by Google (https://www.google.com) that tracks and reports website traffic.  We use Google Analytics to allow us to determine things such as the number of unique and returning visitors, how they were referred to our website, the length of time they spend on our website, the number of pages they visit, and other similar information. As part of Google Analytics, we have also implemented the Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics Advertising Feature of Demographic and Interest Reporting which enables Google Analytics to collect data about our traffic via Google advertising cookies and anonymous identifiers in addition to data collected through a standard Google Analytics implementation. This allows us to get a sense of the gender, age, and interests of people visiting the site. Visitors can edit their inferred demographic categories for websites or opt-out of Google Analytics Advertising Features by visiting Ad Settings, Ad Settings for mobile apps, or any other available means (for example, NAI's consumer opt-out or Google Analytics' currently available opt-outs for the web).

We will not facilitate the merging of personally-identifiable information with non-personally identifiable information collected through any Google advertising product or feature unless we have robust notice of, and the user's prior affirmative (i.e., opt-in) consent to, that merger.

You may learn more about Google Analytics security by visiting its website.
