Mission Statement

Illuminate Colorado prevents child maltreatment and builds strong families through collective education, family support, & advocacy. Illuminate Colorado is a united network of three established organizations - Colorado Alliance for Drug Endangered Children, Prevent Child Abuse Colorado, and the Colorado Chapter of the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders - all partnering to build brighter childhoods for children across Colorado.

Organization History

In October 2014, the Board of Directors of the Colorado Alliance for Drug Endangered Children (Colorado DEC) voted to explore an in depth partnership with Prevent Child Abuse Colorado (PCA Colorado) and the Colorado Chapter of the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (NOFAS Colorado) following years of close collaboration between the three organizations -
- The Colorado Alliance for Drug Endangered Children promotes the health, safety and well being of children impacted by parental substance use.
- Prevent Child Abuse Colorado strives to strengthen families and prevent child abuse or neglect before it ever occurs.
- NOFAS Colorado supports individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, their families, and caregivers and educates the community to prevent prenatal alcohol exposures.

In January 2015, the Colorado Alliance for Drug Endangered Children was selected as one of two inaugural investees in a Social Venture Partners Denver and Denver Active 20/30 Children's Foundation Capacity Building Project. This project focused on uniting the work of the three organizations, and after a year of careful consideration, strategic planning, and legal and financial due diligence, Illuminate Colorado was formed in December 2015. Governed by a single Board of Directors and operating under a joint services agreement, agency programs are fully integrated to leverage resources and increase overall capacity to implement powerful programs to keep kids safe. A full consolidation of the three agencies will be completed on January 1, 2017.

To prevent child maltreatment and build strong families, Illuminate Colorado's programs and services include to:
o Provide training, resources, and consultation
o Support children and families
o Advocate at the state and local level
o Raise awareness of children's issues
o Build partnerships for greater impact

Through effective programming, consistent messaging and a collective voice, together we are making a difference for our children across the state of Colorado.
