Mission Statement

To serve the community by providing a forum for educational, cultural, and artistic events and activities, drawing upon the beauty and resources of our regional display garden and our community partners.

Organization History

The King C. Hudson and Evelyn Leigh Hudson Foundation, Inc. ('the Foundation') carries on the legacy of Evelyn Hudson, a gardening enthusiast who dedicated her life toward making her home community of Littleton, Colorado the most beautiful city possible. She created the Foundation before her death in 1988, leaving her land and assets with the instruction to "preserve, maintain, and enhance the natural beauty of the property for the aesthetic enjoyment and education of the public."

Evelyn's 30-acre estate was transformed into Hudson Gardens and opened in June of 1996. The property is owned by the South Suburban Park and Recreation District and continues to be managed by the Foundation.

"Kudos to the gardeners for maintaining such a wonderful haven for flora and fauna. The herb garden was really interesting. I have never seen so many varieties of sage, thyme, and other herbs. The Rose Garden was stunning. So many varieties, with every color of the rainbow. The smells were fantastic. Best of all, this little treasure of a garden is absolutely FREE!"
-Richard

"We thoroughly enjoyed our membership, from both the standpoint of seeing the gardens at many different times of the year, as well as by attending, and bringing guests to, some very good concerts there in the summer! Thank you again for the pleasure we received through visits to your beautiful Gardens."
-Marilyn and Patrick

-Esther

"It is my pleasure to be a part of Hudson Gardens and supporting this wonderful gift to the community."
-Deb, volunteer

"Hudson Gardens will always have a special place in my heart. Last year my son who is profoundly handicapped [and] not doing so well at the time, loves Christmas lights and music. I brought my son down just to see the lights and your staff asked if he wanted to see Santa. I gave up on that years ago because he can't wait in lines. Your staff then took us in the back door [to see Santa]. That was one of the best moments in my life. Thank you guys for everything you do!"
-Anonymous

"We went last night to Hudson Gardens holiday lights and were VERY impressed. One of the more beautiful experiences we've had. A chill in the air, hot chocolate to sip, all while meandering through a gorgeous array of various colored lights. Thanks again."
-Mark and Jan

"Thank you for the opportunity to experience something so life changing... its a wonderful experience, the community, the bees, the opportunity to be an ambassador for Hudson Gardens. Thank you for your support and grace. You offer a wonderful program."
-Laurie, volunteer beekeeper
