CO GIVES DAY & #GIVINGTUESDAY

YOUR ERA . YOUR HISTORY . YOUR IMPACT

Step back in time with Aspen Historical Society this holiday season and discover your favorite era! We’re celebrating the past on our social media channels through visual points of view from every era of local history.

As we embrace the power of a shared past, we invite you to make an impact with a year-end gift to Aspen Historical Society. Local history is a treasure trove of stories and your donations play a crucial role in helping AHS preserve and share the community's collective memories and character. This year, we're combining the forces of Colorado Gives Day and #GivingTuesday and all donations made through December 5th will be amplified through the Colorado Gives Day incentive fund!

Thank you for considering a year-end donation to Aspen Historical Society. The spirit of philanthropy is essential to writing the next chapter for organizations like AHS and your support, no matter the amount, ensures that the area's stories, treasures, and traditions are preserved and shared for generations to come.

Follow AHS on social media @historyaspen to continue exploring the past through visual perspectives from every era and tell us your favorite!

Mission

Aspen Historical Society enriches the community through preserving and communicating our remarkable history.

Background Statement

Aspen Historical Society (AHS) actively preserves and passionately presents local history in an inspired and provocative manner that will continue to anchor the local community and its evolving character. AHS maintains one of the largest public archives in the region, with a portion of its collection available online as a free resource. AHS operates four historical sites: the Wheeler/Stallard Museum, the Holden/Marolt Mining & Ranching Museum, and the ghost towns of Independence and Ashcroft. All four sites are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Colorado Register of Historic Properties, and the ghost towns are managed and interpreted in partnership with the US Forest Service. AHS utilizes industry-leading strategies–from interpretive dynamic storytelling to museum theater–to provide creative and fun ways for participants of all ages to learn about area history. AHS provides free history education for regional schools, including field programs at the historical sites and in-classroom lessons. Locals and visitors are invited to explore the history of the upper Roaring Fork Valley with guided tours, programs, and community events offered year-round.
