The Home Builders Foundation is committed to helping people with physical disabilities and financial need in the metro Denver area by making quality home modifications so they can live independently in their homes. The work is performed by a community of caring building professionals, suppliers and volunteers.
Knowing the importance of evaluation and the impact an evaluation plan can make to improve the HBF program, strengthen the delivery of mission, and help ensure the long-term success, the HBF has worked to implement and execute a program evaluation plan. First is an ask for immediate feedback via a mailed survey once the project is completed. This alone has greatly increased the amount of feedback provided to the HBF. Next is a phone call survey to recipients approximately one year after project completion. Results from these 1-year surveys were very positive. It was common for us to hear that the services provided by the HBF created a quality of life improvement for the recipient and/or others in their household. The degree to which this occurred was approximately 4.72 out of 5, indicating a response between "Quite a bit" and "A lot". If the capacity to implement an unskilled volunteer component to the existing program is granted, the HBF will also create an evaluation plan to assess the effectiveness and impact on the time spent volunteering with the HBF. Overall, the results from the data gathered from the surveys showed that the HBF was having a dramatic impact on those they served throughout the metro Denver community.
