Since joining the Board of The Village Institute in 2022, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing extraordinary work. What began for me as an invitation to support an organization with a bold vision has become a deeply personal commitment to a place where refugee and immigrant families can truly thrive.
This is who they are.
Fierce survivors. Brilliant problem-solvers. Culture-bearers and bridge-builders. Collectively, they represent over 15 languages and cultures — a living reflection of Aurora’s vibrant identity, a city proudly home to more than 130 cultural communities.
But this moment requires something from all of us.
It is especially important right now to send a clear and resounding message to refugee and immigrant families — including the incredible staff who power this work — that they are valued, they are supported, and they belong here.
As Colorado Gives Day 2025 approaches, I’m inviting you to join us in writing the next chapter of this story: one where our community stands firmly beside refugee and immigrant families, investing in their power, potential, and leadership.
