The Geller Center

A nonprofit organization

The Geller Center guides teens and young adults in Northern Colorado on their journeys to grow as community leaders. We envision a world where young people have the foundation they need to build and/or strengthen communities dedicated to democracy, peace, and social and environmental justice.

Testimonials

"The Geller Center has served as a home for me since I discovered it. I want everyone to have access to the opportunities that I have, to feel accepted when they might not even accept themselves, and to find a space to explore vulnerability in a way that is very uncommon, and yet extremely important in our society." -Sean Simpson, Dialogue Leader and Board Member

"The Geller Center teaches me to look past stigmas of religion, race, and physical ability by offering a place where I may interact with atheists, agnostics, Jews, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, whites, blacks, disabled students, undergrads, graduate students, elderly, international students... I can think of no other place in which the peoples are not united by trying to have one and only one common viewpoint on the world, but on trying to view the world through as many perspectives as possible." - B.S.

Mission

Our mission is to support young adults and emerging leaders develop the foundations they need to build and strengthen communities dedicated to peace and justice.

Background Statement

The Geller Center was founded in 1969 as the United Campus Ministry, a Presbyterian campus ministry associated with Colorado State University. United Campus Ministry was renamed the Geller Center in honor of Bob Geller, a 97-year-old humanitarian leader, former director of UCM, and retired minister. As the needs of our community and students changed, the Geller Center grew into a spiritual development center. In the late 2000's, the Geller Center re-filed as a nonprofit organization.

We have been an incubator for 47 local non-profit organizations, such as the Volunteer Clearing House (now known as Education and Life Training Center), the Fort Collins Area Interfaith Council, and the Fort Collins Collins Food Bank. We have provided community service projects, peacemaking and social justice programs, international service-learning trips, classes, support groups and much more.
