The mission of Growing Colorado Kids is to reduce hunger, improve nutrition, and provide experiential learning opportunities for refugee youth through organic farming.
For nearly a decade Growing Colorado Kids has been making a positive difference in the lives of refugee youth who have been resettled in Denver with families. GCK youth come to a small farm weekly between February and October to plant a one-acre growing space, sow seeds, and tend to fresh produce grown to help feed their families and to donate to local groups fighting hunger.
This past season we served 20 refugee youth, harvested 3,237 pounds of fresh naturally grown produce, shared 3,014 farm fresh duck and chicken eggs, 31 pounds of farm fresh chicken meat, and sent home 2,300 pounds of prepared food!
Our goal for our end of year campaign is $10,000 and your contribution, big or small, goes a long way in helping us to meet this goal.
$10 can provide a 10 pack of seeds or 5 garden transplants
$20 can pay for a pair of new farm shoes for one GCK youth.
$50 can provide materials for building, arts and crafts, and resources for experiential learning projects.
$100 can provide a meal for 40 on a Farm Saturday, plus sufficient leftovers for each of our 15 youth to take home.
$200 can provide transportation for our youth to and from the farm on one Farm Saturday.
Help us grow a greater Colorado and donate today.
