Summary

Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver needs your help to get outside and enjoy summer Gates Camp! The camp needs a well that would continue to ensure access to safe drinking water. Superfeet has pledged $10,000; please help us reach our goal!

AH, SUMMER CAMP...
Take a second and think back to when you were a kid at summer camp. Remember the sun, the fun, the games, the friends and how awesome it was to be part of a kid-tribe governed only by the rules established by camp counselors? And if you didn't go to summer camp, don't you wish you could be a kid again to go? At Superfeet, we certainly do.

Each summer, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver provides 550 members with the opportunity to spend a week at camp. For many of the members, it is their first time in the mountains and their first time away from home. In order to continue to provide members with the best summer experience, Gates Camp needs to make improvements to the camp's wells in order to continue to provide safe drinking water for summer campers. Superfeet has decided to do everything we can to help Boys & Girls Club members experience Gates Camp to the fullest. Please pitch in a couple dollars and help us reach our $60,000 goal to support their well project.

HOW YOU CAN HELP...
For each donor who pitches in $100 or more, Superfeet will provide a pair of thank-you insoles of your choosing. Use the 'Email Fundraiser Creator' button on the right-side of the campaign page to contact us for your insoles after you've made the donation.

Every donation - big or small - is greatly appreciated. To inspire your donation amount, we've listed the cost of several different water-related items. Every dollar helps. (To be clear, the items listed below are not included with your donation.)

MORE ABOUT THE GATES CAMP WELL PROJECT...
Gates Camp currently has one functioning deep well and three shallow wells. The Boys & Girls Club is obligated to meet State standards for well operations. At this point in time, the deep well is the only consistent source of water as the three shallow wells have no water during dry years and are at risk of being contaminated by surface water.

Though Boys & Girls Clubs has not had to shut down summer camp operations in the past due to water production from their existing wells, global warming and future drought conditions are certain threats that may increase risk in the coming years.

Due to the factors outlined above, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver found viable reasoning to undertake the drilling for an additional deep well. The intent of the new deep well installation, and its ultimate service connection to Gates Camp's existing freshwater distribution system, is multifaceted.

A new deep well will complement the water that is being harvested from Gates Camp's current deep well, offering a consistent supply of water during ephemeral drought conditions. The new well will also provide pre-emptive action in relation to legislation concerning ground water sources that are under the direct influence of surface water (a.k.a. Colorado Primary Drinking Water Regulation 11). The later "GWUDI" designation will affect Camp's ability to legally harvest water from Gates Camp's historically used three shallow wells, approximately fifty feet in depth each, which are immediately adjacent to Camp's lake.

The installation and connection of the new deep well will provide a consistent water supply and will ensure that the organization complies with State and Federally mandated standards for Public Drinking Water Systems. The total project cost for the deep well is $60,000.
