Background Statement

The Friends of the Front Range Wildlife Refuges has supported the Rocky Mountain Arsenal and Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuges as these once closed and contaminated spaces have become crown jewels of the Denver Metro Area.

We have worked on a variety of projects to support these refuges with the guiding principle of providing urban refuges that are truly a refuge for all.

We support the refuges by:

•Conserving and restoring native habitat and wildlife

•Giving the public opportunities to experience wildlife and nature near a major metropolitan area

•Providing environmental education in partnership with families and schools

•Soliciting expertise, ideas, funds, and materials from the community to help make our local refuges outstanding
