Together We Build, Paint, and Grow Stronger Communities
This January, The Walls Project is proud to partner with the City of Aurora and the Aurora Fire Department to bring color, creativity, and community spirit to two local fire stations. As part of our mission to turn Blank Spaces into Joyful Places, we’ll be working at Station No. 2 (Hoffman Heights) and Station No. 11 (Havana Heights) to transform their community rooms into warm, welcoming spaces that inspire connection and collaboration. Volunteers, residents, and artists will come together to repaint interior spaces, repair and refresh key features, and create a vibrant new mural at Station No. 11 celebrating the power of unity and service.
These ReActivate Aurora projects will take place on January 9th and 10th, 2026, aligning with the 40th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration. Honoring Dr. King’s enduring message of equality, service, and shared humanity, the events will invite people of all backgrounds to work side-by-side—transforming spaces that serve the community while deepening connections among neighbors. Each brushstroke and act of service will echo Dr. King’s call to build a “beloved community” rooted in compassion and collective action.
In true Walls Project fashion, the weekend will conclude with a block-party-style celebration featuring local music, food, and community resource booths, recognizing the volunteers and partners who make this work possible. A call for volunteers and sponsors will be released soon, offering opportunities for individuals, businesses, and organizations to join in the effort. Together, we’ll paint, serve, and celebrate a brighter future for Aurora—one wall, one community, and one act of service at a time.
