From the Frontlines to the Rockies: A Week with Our IDF Friends

This summer, a mountain becomes more than just a place — it becomes a sanctuary of hope, healing, and heartfelt connection.

We are proud to introduce Tikvah BaHar (Hope at the Mountain) — a bold, community-powered initiative launching this August in Steamboat Springs. From August 24–31, Har Mishpacha & STAND (Steamboat Team to Disrupt Antisemitism and Discrimination), STARS (Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports), the Friends of Duvdevan Foundation, and the Israeli-American Council (IAC) are partnering to host eight wounded IDF soldiers and one staff member for a week-long, adaptive outdoor therapeutic retreat in the Colorado Rockies.

These are not just soldiers — they are survivors, heroes, and human beings facing physical and emotional wounds, often in silence. They have sacrificed deeply to protect Israel and the Jewish people — and now it’s our turn to give back.

🎯 Our Goal: Raise $40,000 to Make This Possible

We need to raise $40,000 to fully fund this transformative experience. This amount will cover:

• Airfare

• Lodging

• Meals

• Adaptive therapeutic activities (through STARS)

• Ground transportation

• Insurance

• Program staffing and support

Every dollar above and beyond our $40,000 goal will go directly to the Friends of Duvdevan Foundation to continue supporting these soldiers on their long road to recovery, reintegration, and renewal.

🌄 Healing & Renewal

In partnership with STARS (Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports), participants will experience adaptive outdoor therapy — mountain biking, kayaking, equine therapy, yoga, and more. STARS’ expertise in serving individuals with physical and cognitive challenges ensures the soldiers are supported with care, safety, and respect.

🤝 Connection & Education

Through intimate community gatherings and shared experiences, local residents will meet and learn from these remarkable individuals — building understanding, friendships, and empathy that transcend news cycles and stereotypes.

Tikvah BaHar is a local expression of global Jewish solidarity. We’re not just hosting guests — we’re standing with them. We’re shining a light on the mission of the Friends of Duvdevan Foundation, which supports the elite soldiers of Israel’s Duvdevan Unit in their recovery and reintegration.
