Save Colorado's Stories

Welcome to our statewide fundraising campaign to protect and sustain Colorado Stories.

For over 50 years, Colorado Humanities has worked to ensure that the stories, voices, and cultural experiences of our communities are heard and celebrated. Each year, our free programs reach more than 300,000 Coloradans - feeling connection, education, reflection, and pride across all ages and backgrounds.

But now, this vital work is at risk.

In April, all federal funding for state humanities councils - including Colorado Humanities - was terminated. This leaves a profound gap in the cultural and educational infrastructure of our state that no other organization is positioned to fill.

That's why we're launching a community-powered campaign - led by Champions across Colorado - to raise the support we need to continue this work. These Champions are passionate individuals, each part of one of our four fundraising teams, representing different values and voices of our shared mission:

• Keepers of Our Stories - Fuel a love of reading and storytelling in young people across Colorado. As a Keeper, you'll support literacy programs, author visits, and events that inspire imagination and amplify diverse voices. Help give every child access to stories that empower and connect.
• Community Connections Champions - Support programs that bring people together through conversation, empathy, and shared experience. As a Community Connections Champion, you'll help foster meaningful dialogue and bridge divides in communities across the state - one story at a time.
• Knowledge Champions - Promote lifelong learning and civic engagement by supporting thought-provoking programs that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and public dialogue. As a Knowledge Champion, you'll help keep education and open-minded discussion alive in every corner of Colorado.
• Heritage Champions - Celebrate and preserve the traditions, histories, and cultural identities that make Colorado unique. As a Heritage Champion, you'll help protect oral histories, elevate underrepresented voices, and ensure our state's diverse heritage is honored and remembered.

Together, we can rise to meet this moment. By joining our statewide campaign as a Champion or supporting one, you're helping ensure that Colorado's stories don't fade into silence.
