Over a decade of holding Flyathlon events, we have received more than our fair share of Flyathlon "team" inquiries. They typically go something like this:
"I don't run, like EVER. But I've got a buddy who runs. And we both like beer. Can we compete in the Flyathlon as a relay team?"
Which got us thinking about creating a relay race. Not to meet the ridiculous need identified above, but rather to create a Flyathlon event where teamwork reigns supreme.
That relay race is NASCARP.
In a Flyathlon NASCARP race, teams of two "drivers" alternate to complete 6 laps of a course. One NASCARP lap consists of:
Winning teams are crowned as the fastest in each Division (Leaded and Unleaded) to complete their six laps, six fish, and six refueling beverages.
But aside from creating a festive team Flyathlon environment, the NASCARP Davis Ponds Cup is primarily held to raise money for on-the-ground work benefiting Colorado's state fish, the Greenback cutthroat trout. Each NASCARP team has committed to recruiting "team sponsors" and hitting a minimum fundraising threshold, in part through those sponsorships, but also through individual donations to their teams.
We hope that you will consider a donation / sponsorship to support your favorite NASCARP team (and the Greenback cutthroat trout in the process)!!!
