JIP’s largest fundraising campaign is to sell Halloween pumpkins each October at pumpkin patches in Lakewood and Arvada. We buy these pumpkins on consignment from Pumpkins USA, who sources them from a Navajo reservation in New Mexico. This also provides jobs and needed income for the growers.
JIP’s goal is to raise $60 to $75 thousand each year to sponsor a home built by Habitat for Humanity in the Denver metro area and to provide unpaid volunteers from our member faith groups to help build the new homes. Since incorporating in 2019, JIP has sponsored and helped build 5 homes in the Denver area, raising about $300 thousand to do this.
JIP raises about $40 to $45 thousand each year from the pumpkin sales. However, JIP depends on donations from our member faith groups and others to raise the additional money needed to pay for the home sponsorships.
