Denver Pops Orchestra

A nonprofit organization

Donate to help the Denver Pops Orchestra to bring music to a variety of Colorado communities. Your contribution not only helps provide excellent programming for audiences to enjoy, it also gives local musicians a chance to volunteer their time performing.

Testimonials

As president of the board and a clarinetist for Denver Pops, I am delighted at the success of our organization in providing live popular music for members of the Denver area community. Our membership of orchestra members maintains a 90% retention, which proves that the musicians enjoy the ensemble, thus helping us meet our mission statement. Our recently completed season of concerts at Wheat Ridge United Methodist Church were close to sold out with an audience that is always asking for encores.

Mission

The Denver Pops OrchestraMostly Straus Orchestra mission is to:

*Provide a continuing musical performance experience for musicians of the community.

*Serve the community through the performance of familiar music with broad audience appeal.

*Provide familiar music for dances, benefits, parties and other events for public and private entities.

*Provide general music education for the community.

Background Statement

Denver Pops Orchestra (Mostly Strauss) was started in 1979 by Zina Richardson to address the need for a "pops" orchestra in the Denver area. The group initially performed music for ballroom dances and was known at that time as Mostly Strauss Orchestra. In 2003, the board voted to adopt the name Denver Pops to better reflect the content of our concert presentations. In additional to presenting several concerts each year featuring guest artists from the Denver area, the orchestra provides live ballroom dance music for Friends of Traditional Dance, and is available for other community events. The orchestra also has smaller ensembles, a jazz band, a German polka band, woodwind quintet, and string quartet available for hire. The Grant Ave. Players, a 10 piece chamber music group, is available to schools and senior centers.
