Every kid in Colorado deserves to experience the joy of playing sports.
Youth sports participation is lower than it should be, especially for kids in low-income families and communities of color. Youth Sports Giving Day is a way for Coloradans to come together and strike out inequality.

Q: What is the status of the $1 million dollar for dollar match offered on September 4?
All funds from the original $1 million dollar match offered are exhausted with the exception of the Denver Broncos Foundation $2,500 match per nonprofit with a youth sports football program as of September 6, 2024.
The momentum Youth Sports Giving Day team witnessed thus far is so powerful that the Daniels Fund is doubling down and pledging another $500,000 toward Colorado’s Youth Sports Giving Day campaign starting from the time the original match was expended and continuing through September 30! See the following FAQ for details on the structure of the new incentive fund.
Q: What are the details of the NEW $500,000 incentive fund to boost all donations?
The momentum Youth Sports Giving Day team witnessed thus far is so powerful that the Daniels Fund is doubling down and pledging another $500,000 toward Colorado’s Youth Sports Giving Day campaign starting from the time the original match was expended and continuing through September 30!
The additional $500,000 incentive match fund will be structured to boost every donation to youth sports nonprofits and increase the impact of every dollar donated online through September 30.
Donations made after the initial $1 million match was expended on September 4 will be eligible for the incentive fund match to be distributed on a percentage basis to ensure every gift made through September 30 is boosted by the $500,000 incentive funds.
Q: How does the NEW $500,000 incentive fund boost all donations?
Amplify Your Impact with the $500,000 Incentive Fund
Every donation made after the original $1 million match fund was expended will be boosted by the additional $500,000 incentive fund.
How it works: All nonprofits receive a percentage of the fund equal to the percentage they raise for the Youth Sports Giving Day campaign (after the original match funds were expended). Raise 10%, get 10% of the incentive fund.
Example: For instance, if the total Youth Sports Giving Day campaign raises $3 million in donations, the additional incentive fund will be distributed based only on the $2 million raised after the original $1 million match was fully utilized. So, if Youth Nonprofit X raises $200,000 after the initial match is expended, they will receive 10% of the incentive fund at the end of the campaign. Any donations raised while the $1 million matching fund was in effect will not count toward a nonprofit’s share of the incentive fund.
All match fund calculations are verified post-campaign after September 30 to ensure the most accurate disbursement of funds in mid-October to participating nonprofits.

Q: How can I promote the NEW $500,000 incentive fund through September 30?
Please adjust your fundraising communications to remove details about the 1:1 match from your campaign pages and update with details on the new incentive fund.
Below is sample copy to share with donors about the additional incentive fund:
There has been a tremendous response to Youth Sports Giving Day, and over $1.5 million has already been raised to support youth sports across the state. The original $1 million in matching funds has been expended, but due to the enthusiasm for supporting youth sports, the Daniels Fund has added an additional incentive fund of $500,000. This fund will be distributed on a percentage basis to ensure every gift made through September 30 continues to make an impact. Let’s keep the momentum going!
Q: When will nonprofits know what donations were officially matched for Youth Sports Giving Day?
All calculations and verification of match funds donated for Youth Sports Giving Day will take place after September 30, 2024 when the campaign ends and in preparation for the mid-October disbursement of funds raised and matched to participating nonprofits. Match fund amounts per nonprofit will be verified after the close of the campaign September 30 to ensure accurate disbursement of funds. Read more about nonprofit disbursements on ColoradoGives.org.
Example: Consider that a $100,000 donation could be made online for Youth Sports Giving Day, but that donation can take several days to clear with the banks and become a completed transaction. That same $100,000 donation may not be successful due to a bank issue such as “insufficient funds” and the transaction would not be processed on ColoradoGives.org or count towards Youth Sports Giving Day. Running calculations after September 30 ensures all match fund disbursements are accurate for participating nonprofits.
Q: Can my nonprofit still participate in Youth Sports Giving Day 2024?
Nonprofits interested in participating may sign up through September 30. To qualify for the $500,000 incentive fund dollars, nonprofits must be enrolled on ColoradoGives.org and fill out the Youth Sports Giving Day interest form to begin the process of signing up.
If your nonprofit is already enrolled on ColoradoGives.org, Fill Out the Youth Sports Giving Day Nonprofit Interest Form to get started.
For NEW Nonprofits not already on ColoradoGives.org, first enroll on ColoradoGives.org, then fill out the interest form above.
Q: As a donor, what is the benefit to my gift being made during the Youth Sports Giving Day campaign?
Through generous partner funding, there is a 1:1 match for the first $1 million dollars in online donations through ColoradoGives.org during Youth Sports Giving Day! Every donation through September 30 made after the original $1 million match fund is expended will be boosted by the additional $500,000 incentive fund on a percentage basis.
There is no better time to maximize your charitable gift and support youth sports programs than September 4 – 30, 2024. Every kid deserves access to sports and now you can help make that happen by donating during this state-wide movement!
Q: Is there a limit to how much a nonprofit may receive in matching or incentive funds?
For the original $1 million matching fund, nonprofits may not receive more than $250,000 in matching funds.
For the additional $500,000 incentive fund, there is no cap.
Any nonprofit that reached the cap on the original matching fund, may still receive a percentage of the $500,000 incentive fund.
